This Growler is John Schlick’s personal ride that started with custom paint over the standard black powder coat and was built up with a 2×10 Shimano Ultra drivetrain, Velocity Aileron wheels with Sapim CX-Ray Spokes, TRP’s HY-RD Cable Actuated Hydraulic Disc Brakes, a Thomson cockpit and it all rides on Clement’s 35x700c X’plor USH tubeless tires.

We’ve been building All Road bikes in the Good Ol’ USofA for a very long time. Before Schlick even existed, in fact! Some companies are now calling these Gravel bikes. I get it, we rode thousands of miles of Iowa gravel on bikes going back to the ’70’s that are very similar in geometry to the current gravel bikes. Guess what, they work great on the road too. Weird, Huh?
Our Schlick Cycles Growler is the latest iteration of the most versatile of road bikes with clearance for 45mm tires, a custom-machined chain stay yoke for extra tire clearance without the need to lengthen the chainstays and it’s built using oversize US-made True Temper steel tubing. Additional details include disc brake mounts, a 44mm headtube, rear rack mounts, fender mounts, full cable housing routing & 3rd bottle mount. Drop-out inserts allow for multiple axle configurations in either QR (135mm x 10mm) or DT Swiss Thru-axle (142mm x12mm).
